After the Rain reunites Gavin Bryars with singer Jess Walker, building on their acclaimed Tom Waits project Mercy and Grand, described by Tom Waits as giving his songs “an elegant night on the town.”

Performed with the Gavin Bryars Ensemble, the programme features hypnotic arrangements of works by Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Kurt Weill, and Neil Young. Scored for strings, sax, electric guitar, piano and voice, the arrangements include Cohen’s Song of Bernadette, Waits’ The Briar and The Rose and Young’s Only Love Can Break Your Heart.
