Music by Gavin Bryars, performed by singer Claron McFadden on the isolated rock (“Cucurucu”) in the middle of the bay at Cadaqués

…At dawn on June 23rd, a voice will emerge from the sea…

Before first light, audiences will gather on the beach of Cadaqués and travel by boats towards Cucurucuc, the rock that stands at the threshold of the bay. There, suspended between water, darkness and the arrival of day, Claron McFadden will perform The Voice of Cucurucuc, a new vocal work by Gavin Bryars written especially for this place and occasion, based on a text by the poet Gabriel Ventura.

Positioned on the rock itself, McFadden’s voice will unfold across the water towards a floating audience. The performance is conceived as a meeting between landscape, voice and light, unfolding in the suspended moment between night and day.

The event takes place at dawn, between 5:40 and 6:11 on the morning of June 23rd, and finishes exactly at sunrise.
